The boss lady worked in the corporate world for 10 years before starting the daily luxe. That is 10 years of frocking up and spending all day in very high heels.
For most people, corporate wear can be a little underwhelming (we are on a mission to fix this), and high heels go a long way to making corporate attire look more feminine. The key is looking more feminine without crippling yourself in the process. Any woman can tell you that the hours which pass the slowest are the ones spent standing in uncomfortable heels.
So here is what 10 years of trial and error have taught this boss lady.
Heels don’t have to be super high. If you can’t walk in very high heels then don’t. Tottering around the office at 10am on a Tuesday looking like an inebriated 16 year old on a Saturday night is not a good look. Stick to a heel that you can comfortably walk in.
Embrace the platform. A platform toe is a beautiful thing and it goes a long way to making heels feel more comfortable. Firstly, a platform adds a bit of cushioning to the ball of your foot. Secondly, the platform reduces the angle of the heel and the strain on the foot.
Stock up. Try and test a few styles and find one that complements your style and level of comfort. Then buy it in five colours plus two pairs in black. That way you will always have a comfortable heel regardless of which outfit you choose to wear.
Thicker heel. Those who know the boss lady will be giggling by now! She is the queen of the matchstick stiletto. Anyhoo, a thicker heel gives you more stability and will be a blessing when you are powering down the street when running late for an appointment.
Leather. ALWAYS wear good quality leather heels. This is not negotiable! Honestly, you need to buy good quality leather shoes for this reason if no other. Good quality leather will cushion your feet and help you avoid sore spots and blisters. Slipping into good quality heels is like slipping into freshly laundered bed sheets. It is amazing. Do it!

The Boss Ladies Top 3 must have heels
- Without a shadow of a doubt and by a country mile! YSL tribute pumps. Firstly, they are like wearing slippers but giving you 4 inches more in height. Secondly, tributes come in a range of colours and finishes. Thirdly, you can buy them preloved at very reasonable prices, usually about 75% of the RRP.
- Jimmy Choo peep-toe platform sling backs. These heels are great for the warmer months and also come in a variety of finishes. They are such a comfortable heel to wear and also very versatile.
- Guiseppe Zanotti peep-toe décolleté Sharon pump. These are high and striking. Most importantly, they are really comfortable. The boss lady has them in beige; we all know it takes a special shoe to be striking in beige.
